  1. Illustration from page 2 of The Brave Little Tailor: A Gentle Retelling

One summer morning, a little tailor sat stitching by his window. “Good jams, cheap!” called a woman in the street. Up she came. He sniffed every pot, then bought one tiny spoonful. Off she stomped, grumbling.

He spread the jam on bread. “I’ll finish this jacket first,” he said. But the sweet smell drifted up, and down buzzed the flies. “Hey! Who invited you?” Back they came, more and more. WHACK! went a scrap of cloth.

  3. Illustration from page 4 of The Brave Little Tailor: A Gentle Retelling

The tailor counted. Seven flies! “Seven at one stroke!” he cried. Quickly he cut a belt and stitched the words across it. “The whole world shall hear of it!” His heart wagged with joy like a lamb’s tail.
